Small steps, every day

I used to think progress came in big moments — a free weekend, a burst of motivation, a long night where everything finally clicks. Lately I’ve stopped believing that.

Between a full-time job and studying on the side, I rarely get those big moments. What I do get is twenty minutes here, half an hour there. For a long time that felt like too little to matter. It turns out it isn’t.

The trick, at least for me, was lowering the bar. Not “study for three hours” but “open the book and read one page.” Not “get fit” but “go for a short walk.” Once the first small step is done, momentum usually takes care of the rest — and on the days it doesn’t, one page is still one page more than yesterday.

I’m writing this partly as a reminder to myself. If you’re juggling a lot too, maybe it helps you as well: you don’t need a perfect day to move forward. You just need the next small step.
